When Does the First Milk Tooth Erupt in Babies
What are Milk Teeth
Milk teeth are called the teeth that babies start to erupt from the 6th month. The set of milk teeth is completed between 30 or 36 months. When milk teeth are complete, there are a total of 20 teeth, 10 in the upper jaw and 10 in the lower jaw. The first milk teeth to erupt are the front incisors in the lower jaw. After the two incisors, the front teeth in the upper jaw erupt. A child who is 15 months old has a total of 8 milk teeth. Milk teeth start to fall out from the age of 7, and permanent teeth begin to replace them. The replacement of milk teeth also occurs in the same order. First, the lower front incisors change, followed by the upper front incisors. In some babies, the eruption of milk teeth may occur earlier or later. A delay up to the end of the 9th month is considered normal. If your baby still has no milk teeth within this period, it may be necessary to consult a doctor.
Is There Pain When Milk Teeth Erupt
Yes, while some children get through this process easily, some babies may experience pain and discomfort. It is normal to feel pain considering that the teeth are erupting by piercing the gums. Some babies become restless, drool excessively, develop a fever, become irritable, and cry a lot during this period.
